This is indicated specially in the verse, \u201c\u015ba\u1e43sant\u012bm manas\u0101,\u00a0 \u201cwho wished by her mind\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The second part is\u00a0 savit\u0101dad\u0101t which means given, hand over or bestowed upon.The wording of the mantras are ambivalent (or rather, intentionally so) on whether the bride is bestowed on the groom, or the groom bestowed on the bride. One would see that should be the ideal concept as well. But a fraction of the people did believe the wording meant the bride was bestowed on the groom, since anyway groom takes her with him, back to his home (patrilocality).
